Functional Pottery 2006-2008
Platters, animal mugs and shot glasses are available by commission.

Still life images of drawn animals, people, and other illustrations on a variety of ceramic forms represent the dynamics of relationships and carry meaning through human desire to anthropomorphize and relate to animals. Vessel forms such as teapots, cups, platters, jars, and bottles possess a strong predisposition to carry the narrative quality of the images by virtue of their functionality, tactility, and dimensionality. The role of function in this case allows a more intimate and active involvement to develop with the drawings, helping to acquaint the user with the images overtime with each use.

Thrown and handbuilt, these pieces are made of earthenware. I use a scraffito technique to create detailed drawings. Color is achieved through low fire slips, mason stains and glazes.
