Shanna Fliegel was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her BFA from James Madison University in 2001. In 2002 she went to work as an Artist in Residence at the Cub Creek Foundation in Appomattox, VA for one year. Upon completion, she moved to Brooklyn, NY where she worked as a studio assistant at Greenwich House Pottery in New York. In 2005 she moved to the Midwest and attended graduate school at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville where she received her MFA in 2008. Most recently she has been working as an Artist in Residence at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY where she teaches adult sculpture classes. Shanna has received invitations to show her work in national juried exhibitions including the 2009 NCECA Clay National Biennial, and was published in Ceramics Monthly as a 2009 Emerging Artist. She is looking forward to exhibiting work in the upcoming Earth Matters NCECA Invitational 2010 in March.
